Nouvelle horlogerie at a fraction of the price. The success of SevenFriday started on the Internet, conquered the ‘real’ world of physical stores and has now become a concept that is imitated, with the use of a sound Japanese mechanical movement surrounded by a case that corresponds aesthetically with brands like MB&F, HYT, Urwerk and a number of other innovative maisons in the highest segment of the new watch wave. SevenFriday is now on its fourth wave of new models: the Q-series.
The new Q has a decentralised, small hour ring inspired by classic regulator watches, a system that makes it easy to change out the strap, NFC technology that enables registration via the SevenFriday app and, for the first time, a date display. Three variations of the Q will be made and each is based on a different industrial theme: Q1/01 is called Essence, Q2/01 is called Revolution and Q3/01 gets the name Engines. Q1/01 also shows an affinity with music and the design has details that are reminiscent of studio equipment. Q2/01 is more of a traveller’s watch. The model was created after a visit to an old ship in the Port of Amsterdam. The bronze telegraph on the bridge was the starting point for the Q2/01. Supercars tearing across the Bahrein International F1 circuit were the starting point for the Q3/01, which derives its lines from powerful engines. The tonneau case measures 44mm, is water resistant to 30m and the automatic Miyota 2819 movement with 40-hour power reserve shows the hours, minutes, seconds and now also the date. Prices are around € 1,100.
