Ladies are now an integral part of IWC and the soft subtle roundness of the new Da Vinci models are deployed to catch women’s hearts and wrists. The 36mm and 40mm models are understated classic timepieces more feminine than male DNA but luckily the predominantly male complications fans aren’t left in the cold.
The new IWC Da Vinci is inspired by its 1980’s predecessor. Kurt Klaus wrote watchmaking history in 1985 with his perpetual calendar and the 2017 successor follows the original. The case is now 43mm instead of 41.5mm and the movement is entirely new. It combines a perpetual calendar with a flyback single dial chronograph positioned at 12 o’clock. Because of the flexible lugs the firm and quite tall watch embraces the wrist very comfortably. It doesn’t feel like a 43mm watch at all.
Prices start around 32,000 euro for a steel version and in ref gold it will cost around 43,000 euro.
