Of course an anniversary is a great opportunity to mix great history with present technology. Therefore it’s no more than logical Omega introduces a special remake of the Omega Icon Seamaster, 70 years after the release of the most successful line of the brand.
Omega honors the 70th anniversary of the Seamaster with two limited editions of the Seamaster 1948. The new watches have inherited characteristic 1948 style features including a polished crown, a vintage style logo at 12 o’clock, and is nicely and subtly provided with luminous indexes. The Seamaster 1948 Small Seconds includes a small seconds indication at 6 o’clock. The specials are equipped with a sapphire case cover with a laser engraved and hand lacquered 70th Anniversary logo, depending on the model, a Chris-Craft boat or a Gloster Meteor aircraft. The 38mm steel cases – yes, a bit smaller than the earlier Seamasters – are equipped with the Co-Axial Master Chronometer 8804 (Seamaster 1948 Small Seconds) and the Co-Axial Master Chronometer 8806 (Seamaster 1948 Central Second).
