Breitling is sending its Triathlon Squad, consisting out of top-athletes Jan Frodeno, Chris “Macca” McCormack, and Daniela Ryf for its first mission to Swellendam, South Africa, where they will participate in the Coronation Double Century bicycle race. They will not do this for personal glory but to raise awareness and money for the South-African charity Qhubeka.
With over 90.000 bicycles donated, Qhubeka helps communities with limited transportation options to get around. This gives people better access to health-care, schools and places to work and literally opens up their world. Breitling’s Triathlons squad aims to raise enough funds to donate an additional 500 bicycles for this worthy cause.
For this occasion The Triathlon Squad will be joined by duathlon specialist and Ironman champion Ronnie Schildknecht, multiple Olympic medalist and seven-time world champion on mountain bikers Nino Schurter, as well as Breitling’s CEO Georges Kern. Also, other people can join in and help support Qhubeka. Breitling is launching a limited edition of 77 very special Breitling Colnago C64 bicycles, and also has unique opportunities available to join the squad in their mission at the Coronation Double Century. All forces combined will not only make for a fantastic event but also expand the world of those with very limited means to do so themselves.
