Time to change and rock at Tidemann

Brothers Tom Andre and Lars Christian Tidemann are the men behind the watch store Tidemann Urmakermester in the heart of Oslo. ‘0024 WatchWorld’ caught up with them and their ambassador Hank von Hell. Right in time to find out that Stockholm based Nymans Ur 1851 acquired 51% of the ownership of Tidemann. As of Thursday June 16th of this year, Swedish Nymans Ur 1851 is the majority shareholder in Oslo based Tidemann. As both parties have a solid experience in the business the partnership between Nymans Ur 1851 and Tidemann is one that starts with great confidence.

Krons in Stockholm turns 50

A 50th birthday has to be celebrated with an unforgettable party. For celebrating Krons 50-year anniversary, all the needed ingredients were there: a dj for good music, champagne to toast with, balloons, bright shining diamonds and – last but not least – family, friends, staff, partners and clients to celebrate with. Over 150 invitees where present at the galleria (PK-Huset) to celebrate the anniversary.

Within the IWC brand - with a largely male-dominated customer base - there was some surprise at the success of the mid-sized Portofino model on its release. Women adored the watch, and sales climbed rapidly. This year was the turn of a mid-sized pilot's watch, the advertising video showing a professional female wrist in amongst the uniformed pilots. The brand’s conventional collections have featured many models with a very feminine design, which was carefully emphasized in their presentations.

Bukowskis auction house invests in a new watch department

Tony Frank and Mikael Wallhagen, experts in everything to do with watches, were lured away from Kaplans to become the new watch experts at Bukowskis. In the spring they will be building the department with a view to becoming an important player in this field. The idea for the move arose during the recording of last season's popular TV programme Antikrundan (comparable to the Antiques Roadshow in the UK), in which Mikael values watches.

This year will mark the 70th anniversary of Japanese technology giant Casio and more than 40 years ago, the starting point as watchmakers. Since then shocking things happened. The man behind Casio, Toshio Kashio, was born in Tokyo in 1925, and already at the age of six had the American inventor and industrialist Thomas Alva Edison as an idol. That´s why Kashio worked from the very beginning with his sights set on becoming an inventor himself. In 1946 he founded a company together with his three younger brothers.
