Four complicated creative animations by Roger Dubuis

Roger Dubuis has always been a source of creativity and originality. The Genevan maison now launches four short videos using a highly original approach to traditional animation in which, like its incredible timepieces, every line is done by hand.

The four videos are perfectly in sync with the manually crafted nature of the Manufacture’s calibres: exceptional objects composed of several hundred components meticulously finished by hand, in the spirit of Geneva’s great watchmaking tradition. Illustrating a perfect Roger Dubuis-esque twist of irony, the films were created in partnership with Cyril Clapin, creator of the award-winning short film ‘Rain Surfer’. In each of these four videos, featuring linear drawings accentuated by the use of stark black and white, one of Roger Dubuis’ exclusive, impeccably mastered movements is viewed through the prism of a specific theme: ‘Transparency’, ‘Architecture’, ‘Star’ and ‘Precision’.

We present you the first instalment of this line-drawn saga, ‘Transparency’. This animation depicts the marvellous metamorphosis of a curious butterfly (a skeleton flying tourbillon RD505SQ type of butterfly) exploring a mysterious pillar.
