Hermès is getting ready for the holiday seasons with two new additions to the Cape Cod collection. With the Cape Cod Chaîne d’ancre the brand pays homage to the ‘anchor chain’ which was designed by Robert Dumas in 1938.
The anchor chain is prominently displayed on the dial of the watch. Hermès is offering it in a black as well as a white dialed variety. Both have a lacquered base. In the black version the chain motif is set with 71 black spinels and a champlevé aventurine decor. The white version features 71 brilliant cut diamonds and mother-of-pearl.
Diamonds can also be found on the stainless steel case, where 42 of them highlight the unique shape of the Cape Cod. The design of this watch came from Henri d’Origny, Hermès’s artistic director and was first introduced in 1991. The Cape Cod Chaîne d’ancre can be fitted with a regular strap, but also with the famous ‘Double Tour’-strap, further amplifying its unique appearance. This Hermès is equipped with a Swiss made quartz movement, as well as glare-proofed sapphire crystal. With a water resistance of 30 meters is it a perfect everyday watch that is as robust as it is elegant.
