Longines Surprises With Master Collection Annual Calendar

An annual calendar has rapidly become a very popular complication. Because it can distinguish between months that have 30 or 31 days, its date only has to be adjusted once a year. In terms of price the annual calendar was also more affordable than the more complicated perpetual calendar yet not yet offered at the price point, Longines introduced the Master Collection Annual Calendar at.

Starting at 1960 Euros for the version with a leather band, it is a very competitive offering, especially considering that no corners are cut in terms of quality and eye for detail. The Annual Calendar is housed in a 40mm stainless steel case and offers a generous power reserve of 64 hours. Its movement, automatic calibre L897, can be admired through the transparent case back.

The dial has that typical classic look that is one of the signatures of the Master Collection, with bold Arabic numerals for the cream coloured dial and Roman numerals for the black dial. A version with diamond hour markers is available as well. Day and date are displayed linearly in two windows on the right side of the dial. A very subtle way to highlight its refined complication.

When we started publishing our first high-end watch magazine in 1999, we had only one intention: increasing the popularity of high-quality mechanical watches. Now, many years later, this has not changed at all. In 2017 we have reinvented ourselves to serve our readers in a different and better way. Starting in 2017, the new 0024 is again better equipped to interact with the changing world of high-end watches. The new 0024 HORLOGES magazine (written in Dutch) will be at least a 200 pager: that’s twice the volume of our magazine in the old days.
