Launched on November 3, Lornet is the only watch brand whose components are designed, manufactured and assembled in France. The movement is entirely produced internally and assembled piece by piece in the watch-pool Franche-Comté. Lornet, a young brand in de the watchindustry and 100% independent, launched LA-01 in 2016 and presented a limited edition of 100 copies. Now the LA-01 will also inaugurate the online shop of Lornet.
“So far, we have taken all orders online, either during our launch party or through contact with our website or social networks,” explains Anthony Simao, the watchmaker and founder of the brand. “Today, the online store will enable us to accelerate our response time, facilitate transactions and complete the network of retailers who already trust us.” Available today at 3900 euros (inclusive of VAT), the LA-01 remains available in a few copies, customisable by an engraving that can be indicated when ordering on the new online store. On this same page, each future owner can also choose his personal number, engraved …/100, within the limits of the remaining possibilities.
On 28 January at midnight, the LA-01 will adapt its final sale price to 5,400 euros TTC. “After the LA-01, our next models will include all of the online store at launch. We are also working on a woman’s model,” said Anthony Simao.
A 100% French watch
There are many large watch manufacturers in France, but since Lip, none of them produces watches that can be described as 100% French. Even Pequignet or Cartier systematically resort to foreign elements. Three French young people, lovers of fine watchmaking and quality mechanics, wanted to change the situation by creating a timepiece “Made in France”. This new Franc-Comtoise brand designed, assembled and manufactured its first watch, the LA-01 (for Lornet Automatique 1st model) working with French elements and partners from the Besançon region.
A regional history
In 2014, Anthony Simao, Mikael Bourgeois and Benoit Monnet, began by designing a movement. Using a 3D software, they created the 158 pieces. It took 18 months to develop the automatic movement. Then comes the modern case, sober, pure lines realized at Créatech in Besançon, then the bracelet in genuine alligator carefully hand-made at Creation Perrin. The glass is from Verlux to Morteau and even the case comes from the neighboring forests.
The Lornet LA-01 watch is born
It features a waterproof, 50-meter barrel-shaped brushed steel case. It is also equipped with a two-needle movement with a raised pendulum that can be seen at 12 o’clock and a power reserve of 48 hours. The movement leaves room for future models since it can accommodate all the classic complications. Since the big hours of Lip, Lornet is thus the first watch brand to be able to claim the label “Origin France Garantie” with its LA-01. And this is not the only quality of this very nice watch offered at 3,900 euros.
