The Aikon-collection is a big success for Maurice Lacroix. This distinguished sports watch is well designed, well made yet competitively priced. With the Aikon Automatic Mercury the collection now also has a new flagship model. With a diameter of 44mm this watch is oversized, yet thanks to the beautiful bracelet construction it still sits nicely on the wrist. While the watch has a technical look, it also comes with a unique complication. When wearing the watch, the hands seem to move aimlessly over the dial, but when you tilt your wrist to read the time they immediately come to attention and display it like they have never moved at all.

This very playful complication is the result of an ingenious movement. Thanks to the clever use of counter weights the hands connect to the movement at an instance. Part of this device is visible from the front, as the Aikon Automatic Mercury lacks a dial. The design and the technical complication also reach a point of synergy, and while its special feature doesn’t serve a specific function, it does add a fun-factor without taking away from the fact that the Maurice Lacroix Aikon Automatic Mercury is a very serious watch!

When we started publishing our first high-end watch magazine in 1999, we had only one intention: increasing the popularity of high-quality mechanical watches. Now, many years later, this has not changed at all. In 2017 we have reinvented ourselves to serve our readers in a different and better way. Starting in 2017, the new 0024 is again better equipped to interact with the changing world of high-end watches. The new 0024 HORLOGES magazine (written in Dutch) will be at least a 200 pager: that’s twice the volume of our magazine in the old days.
