Chopard and the Italian Mille Miglia Race are racing together since 1988. To celebrate this thirty years of partnership, Chopard launched five new Mille Miglia striking sports watches.
Named ‘Mille Miglia Racing Colours chronograph’ the five models have colourful eye-catching names like ‘Rosso Corsa’, ‘Speed Silver’, ‘Racing Green’, ‘Vintage Blue’ and ‘Speed Yellow’. Each colour represents one of the five countries participating the race.
Official timekeeper
Chopard is partner and official timekeeper of the classic car race Mille Miglia since 1988. That same year Chopard presented their first watch collection named after the race, first held in 1927. Still more than 400 historic cars drive the mythical thousand miles from Brescia to Rome and back, each spring. Since 1910, each participating country has its own colour in the race. Bright red Corsa Rosso for the Italians, the British in Racing Green, gray-white for the German silver arrows, yellow for the Belgians and blue for the French Bugatti’s and Talbots. Nowadays the Mille Miglia is a rally with specific old-timers, built between 1927 and 1957.
Inspired by dashboards
The five new Chopard watches have 42mm stainless steel cases, are water resistant up to 50 meter and are equipped with an automatic movement. The COSC-certified calibre has a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and a power reserve of 42 hours. The dial has large, luminous Arabic numerals. The arrow-shaped Mille Miglia logo is centred on the dial. The silver-coloured counters are inspired on the typical dashboards of race cars from the late 1920s to the late 40s of the last century. The Chopard ‘Mille Miglia’ Racing Colours chronograph comes with a calf leather strap with a rubber lining. The collection is limited to 300 pieces for each dial colour. Price around 4050 Euro.
