At Oris they have been making reliable water resistant watches since 1949 and together with their pilot’s models the diver’s watches are among the most popular creations. Recently three more new divers were launched. Here we focus on the El Hierro Limited Edition (€ 1,850). The El Hierro has a 43mm case with stainless steel DLC coating and is water resistantto 300m.
The name comes from the underwater El Hierro volcano that erupted off the coast of the Canary Islands in 2011. Oris entered into a collaboration with the Spanish Institute for Oceanography in the form of three grants at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. It is a condition of the grant that the thesis must be about the El Hierro volcano. The Oris El Hierro is limited to 2,000 pieces.
