For being such a small brand, Christiaan van der Klaauw holds a remarkable amount of industry firsts. During BaselWorld they added another one to the list with black aventurine. While sometimes referred to as a semi-precious stone, it is, in fact, a type of glass. While man made it is incredibly difficult to work with. The rewards are however high because when perfectly executed it resembles a dark, night sky filled with stars.

A unique custom made serie has been made with the rare gem Ammolite. It is the masterpiece Real Moon Stella Nebula, made in collaboration with Stella Polare in Tokyo, Japan.

With the Supernova the maison proves that an astronomical complication doesn't always have to result in astronomical prices. The 44m The 44m Christiaan van der Klaauw Supernova is being built in the high-tech movement atelier just outside Heerenveen for a price of around 7,000 euro.
