Jürgen Jürgensen is the undisputed king and godfather of watchmaking in Denmark. In 1798 for instance he travelled to Paris to study with Abraham-Louis Breguet, in 1801 he built a remarkable bimetallic thermometer and after that he started to create very precise chronometers. The Jürgensen watch dynasty ended in 1912 with the death of the last Jürgensen but the company stayed alive and went abroad to Switzerland.
In 2014 the ownership returned to Danish hands and with CEO Søren J. Petersen at the helm Urban Jürgensen moves into the future. A future that is already present in the Reference 1741 Platinum with perpetual calendar, leap year indicator and moon phases. This timepiece showcases a dial which is made using the traditional technique of grenage. The dial is delicately hand-crafted and the final result is nothing but stunning. The intricate dial finishing lifts this watch to another level.
The Reference 1741 calibre is based on the P4 in-house hand-wound movement. It relies on twin barrels that give the watch a 60-hour power reserve and it also uses a Swiss lever escapement. The platinum 41 mm case is water resistant to 30 meters and the domed sapphire crystal creates a smooth and traditional appearance.
